Gulf Coast Winter Classic Horse Show

The Gulf Coast Winter Classic horse show is held every spring here on the MS coast, and my family has enjoyed attending it ever since I can remember. We love to see the beautiful horses and marvel at how many people have come from all over the country- and even from around the world! This year we took some friends out to the fairgrounds and, camera in hand, captured the events of the day. I was glad I had my telephoto lens with me- and I think my friend Abigail had even more fun with my camera than I did! (grin)

2011 Seniors | Headshots/Portraits

Several months ago some friends had a request for me. They had already had senior portraits done but needed a couple of headshots for their graduation program. I happily obliged- it was my first shoot ever!! I have known both of them for years and we had SO much fun taking the needed headshots and...well...a few more. :-)

I was a little worried that the pictures wouldn't turn out that great on the drive over to our location. The wind had picked up and the sky was dreadfully overcast. But, praise the LORD, the results weren't all that bad! {Thanks to Picnik for the use of their editing tools!}

Thank you, Sarah and Caleb, for asking me to take pictures for you! Congratulations on graduating and may the LORD richly bless you both!

So without further ado, may I introduce the Class of 2011!

Sarah told me she put some funny captions on this picture on Facebook {I'm not on Facebook, so I don't know!} but if I remember correctly it went something like this:
Caleb: "It's a bird...it's a plane...it's...."
Sarah: "Superman!!"

A lot of the time we'd just sit there and think, "Okay, what can we do next?!" They were really, really good sports about it!! We were cracking up at Caleb's hilarious sense of humor!!

What's a photo shoot without a jump shot?!? :-)

FYI- Sarah's senior portraits were done by the wonderfully talented Mandie Newsom!

The start of something...

"..so great, it's destined to fail without You, LORD." So goes a song by John Waller. Starting a photography business may not be a big venture to some people, but to me it is. I never thought I could do it! But here it is...and without the saving grace and great blessings of my LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ, I wouldn't even be here on this earth in the first place.

So! At the moment I am waiting a few more weeks for a 50mm f/1.4 lens to arrive so I can get what I really want out of my camera, instead of...well...what you get with a kit lens. You photographers out there know what I'm talking about!

Meanwhile...I thought you might enjoy some pictures I've taken over the past couple years of God's beautiful creation!

Hopefully I'll get some more photos up soon! I'm not in a big hurry to get things going yet. :-)

A quick note- I love constructive criticism so, photographers! Y'all got any? I'd love to hear what you think- and any tips you might have. Thanks!
